Curious George....
The best way to describe Mason these days (19 weeks) is super CURIOUS! He loves his hands and tries to touch/feel/grasp everything. He also tests things out by putting everything into his mouth. He is fascinated by my hair and jewelry too which makes play time really fun! He loves holding onto his bottle ( with support from mom and dad). Just yesterday he discovered his feet and has taken an interest into grabbing at them. And he tries so hard to sit up/lean forward by himself.
Rice cereal (19 weeks)
On Sunday Mason tried rice cereal fr the first time. We tried feeding it to him with a spoon first. He wasn't sure what to think at first because of the liquid consistency and since it wasn't coming from a bottle. It was pretty cute watching him trying to figure out what to do with the spoon and the liquidy stuff. His tongue was trying to lick it up/touch it. We decided to give him te rest thru a bottle. The past few days we have been giving him rice cereal at night in a bottle. And a special bonus was that grandma and grandpa Olson were at our house to witness him eating it for the first time!

Such a big boy!
This morning mason wanted to show off his great eye hand coordination! He is reaching for everything interesting, but especially his pacifier!
"School"...
Mason started going to "school" on Monday 11/5. I think it was harder for Mikael an I than mason. He did great all week. Miss Nicole and Miss Jessica could not believe how happy he is and what a good sleeper too. They must play all day besides nap time because Mason has been taking 2 god naps each day consistently now and has been sleeping well at night too! They read books, sing songs, and play with toys all day too! So far so good! Both pics are from earlier this week on the way to school and getting picked up!
18 & 19 week pictures
Mason is really starting to scoot and play with toys. Here are so more pictures from the last few weeks.
4 Months Old!! (10/29/2012, 17 weeks)
As usual we can't believe that Mason is 4 Months Old! Here are some updates regarding his development and of course a few pictures! We had his 4 Month Check-Up about 1.5 weeks late, but he did great getting his shots.
- He loves to reach for toys that are hanging above him on his playmate and also his toy soccerball that hangs from his car seat bar.
- Mason gigles frequently and still has the cutest gummy smile
- He is really into pulling my hair and grasping my shirt (Began at 3 months, but is a pro now)
- He enjoys playing with toys that make noise and rattles and loves shaking them
- Still a great eater but always very distracted
- He is rolling from tummy to back and also back to tummy very easily (Rolling Tummy to Back 18 weeks)
- He also supports his head really well while laying on his tummy
- It seems like he is always kicking his little legs! He is even scooting a little bit. While on his back or tummy he can scoot himself in an entire circle. And when he is in his crib or on his playmate he can actually scoot forward.
- He is still able to wear some 6 months clothes but fits into 9 months too
- He loves taking baths and usually likes story time.
- He is defintetly a hand sucker and has taken a liking to him thumb.
- We are still waiting for him to find his feet, he isn't that interested in them
- And as of this morning, he can grab his pacifier if it is handed to him (He will actually reach out to grab it) and put it in his mouth!!! Now if we can just get him to do that at night!
4 Month Doctor Check-Up (11/9/2012, 19 weeks)
- 26 Inches Long (90% percentile)
- 16lbs 3.5oz (80% percentile)
- 41.8cm (50% percentile)
At his doctors appointment Dr. Hartman approved Mason for Baby Rice Cereal! Yahoo!! I am a little sad, because that means he is growing up, but I am sure he will enjoy it.
The pictures below are from Mason's 18th week! :)

Biggest Little Cardinals Fan
As everyone knows I am a big Cardinals fan. Mason is starting to follow in those footsteps as a big fan as well. Here is a picture of Mason after a Cardinals victory:
At Mason's request we have watched many games on TV, but we made it most of the season without making it to a game in person. On our Anniversary (10/3/12) we decided we would take Mason to the game as it was the last regular season game of the year.
First Game - October 3 - Cardinals vs Reds
First Playoff Game - October 16 - NLCS Game 3 - Cardinals vs Giants
Mimi, Papa, Aunt Jennifer, and Elliot also were at the game and I think they were a little jealous of our seats as they were watching us.
After the Giants came back to win the NLCS and end the Cardinals season Mason was a little sad for a couple of days. I think he was hoping to see a World Series game in person since last year he was still in Mom's stomach for Game 6 of the World Series.
At Mason's request we have watched many games on TV, but we made it most of the season without making it to a game in person. On our Anniversary (10/3/12) we decided we would take Mason to the game as it was the last regular season game of the year.
First Game - October 3 - Cardinals vs Reds
Mason loved being at the game. He was awake for the whole thing, which is no small feat due to him sleeping through every fun activity we had previously done. He loved looking at the field, fans, and jumbo-tron. We even were able to see a 1-0 Cardinals victory over the Reds (Cardinals Box Score).
Since Mason did so well at his first game we decided we would bring us with him to his first playoff game when Ashley got tickets for NLCS Game 3. Even with a 3 hour rain delay Mason enjoyed the game and the Cardinals came out with a 3-1 victory (NLCS Game 3). Again Mason loved watching all the activity and played with Grandma O, Aunt Christie, and Aunt Ashley during the rain delay.
First Green Seats - October 19 - NLCS Game 5 - Cardinals vs Giants
Not to be outdone by our other trips to the ballpark on Mason's thrid baseball game we were able to watch the last home game of the season in the NLCS from the Green Seats! Ashley, Mason, and I got invited to go to the game with Katie, Henry, and the rest of the Stieven family. We were hoping to watch the clinching game of the NLCS, but the Giants were not going to be beaten and they started their run to the WS. Even though we didn't get the win we had a lot of fun and great food (NLCS Game 5).
Mimi, Papa, Aunt Jennifer, and Elliot also were at the game and I think they were a little jealous of our seats as they were watching us.
To cheer Mason up we were able to take him to a meet a greet with his favorite player: David Freese! Mason was thrilled to be able to meet David and he got his jersey autographed. But the best part was the picture. I think he was a little star struck.
All in all the meet in greet was just what Mason needed to get him through the offseason and get ready for some baseball next year. Also, I think it helped cheer David up as well to see even the littlest of fans are still cheering for them to get back to the World Series next year. Mason will be keeping track of all the off season moves and counting down the days to spring training.
4 Months Old!
Mason had his 4 month birthday last week and we have a lot to catch up with on the blog.
Ashley started back at work at the beginning of October so Mason had 1 1/2 weeks of Daddy Daycare followed by 2 1/2 weeks with Grandma O. We wanted to put off Mason going to school as long as possible so my Mom came in town from Charlotte to babysit. We were so thankful for this help as it allowed us to transition back to work and know Mason was in good hands. I think Grandma loved playing with Mason all day and she even got some help from Aunt Christie (in from Columbus, OH) and Aunt Ashley for part of the time.
Here is a summary of Mason's adventures during the last month:
Circus
On Saturday October 13th Mason got to go to the Circus for the first time. Mason, Mom, The Jeppson Family, Mimi, Papa, and Aunt Jennifer all got tickets for the Circus since they were in town for the Baptism the next day. Dad was at the airport picking up Grandma O, but with all the fun animals and people to play with Mason didn't notice. Mason loved watching the different animals and all the light displays.
15 Weeks Old:
Baptism:
On Sunday October 14th we had Mason baptised at Ascension Church in Chesterfield. His Godmother - Jennifer and Godfather - Doug are tasked with helping him grow in his Catholic Faith in the future. Along with everything else Mason took it in stride and wasn't phased by the holy water. After the baptism we had a celebration from him where he was able to hang out with the Morrows, Aunt De Ann, Uncle Doug, Aunt Renae, Uncle Dave, Aunt Judy, and Aunt Vicky.
Topeka:
On the weekend of October 20th we took a trip to Topeka, KS to surprise great Gram for her 85th birthday. With some planning we were able to get to Gram's house and surprise her without her knowing we were coming. Gram was very surprised when we all showed up in her driveway and was so excited to finally meet Mason. Mason was also very happy to finally meet his Great Gram, Edwin, and Uncle Rob who was in from Wyoming. During our trip we visited with everyone, had a birthday celebration, and went to Church the next day.
16 Weeks Old:
Mizzou Homecoming:
For the weekend of October 27th we took our future Tiger to see where he will want to go to college on day. We wanted Mason to get the whole Gameday experience so we organized a tailgate with Erica, Joe, and the Lindners since we were lucky enough to get a parking pass and tickets through Ashley's work. Then we went to the game where Mason was able to see the first Tiger SEC victory against Kentucky. After the game Mason caught a quick nap before we went to dinner at Sophia's.
17 Weeks Old:
The next day we were able to show Mason a little bit of the Campus and took his first annual picture in front of the Columns.
Halloween:
For Halloween this year Mason had multiple costumes as we couldn't decide on just one. Since he is too little to enjoy trick or treating we went to Mimi and Papa's house to give out candy to the other kids. We spent the night with Aunt Jennifer and Elliot since Mimi and Papa were in Destin celebrating Papa's birthday.
18 Weeks Old:
Wow, after writing it all out it feels like we did a lot as a 4 month old. Therefore, we are looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home this weekend.
